چکیده
Cognitive styles affect the learning process positively if tasks are matched to cognitive style of learners. This effect becomes more pronounced in complex education, such as engineering. We attempted critically assess and gender on students’ academic performance eight engineering majors understand whether a preference is associated with certain majors. used Style Indicator (CoSI) sample n = 584 students. Multiple standard statistical tests, regression tree analysis, cluster analysis showed that none three was exclusively better performance. However, students who had stronger for were likely perform better. Gender, major, clarity about their shown be best predictors Female performed clearer preferred style, whereas male capable adapting different tasks. Furthermore, styles. concluded study theoretical practical implications education suggestions further research.

Learning styles of design students and the relationship of academic performance and gender in design education
The study focuses on design education using Experiential Learning Theory (ELT) and explores the effects of learning styles and gender on the performance scores of freshman design students in three successive academic years. Findings indicate that the distribution of design students through learning style type preference was more concentrated in assimilating and converging groups. Further study ...

Individuals can be classified in terms of having a particular cognitive style or preference in the way in which they perceive or process information. This paper investigates how students with particular cognitive styles, as measured by Riding’s Cognitive Styles Analysis, perform in design project work at particular stages of Architectural Education. It suggests that contrary to assumptions foun...

Much of the published research on cognitive styles focuses on the differences in cognitive styles of students pursuing different majors in either a four year institution or a two year institution. For example, Witkin, et al. (1977) conducted a ten year longitudinal study in four year institutions which sought to determine if field dependence/independence was related to a student's (1) initial m...
